I am delighted to give my continued support to Thames Valley Horsewatch in its undertaking to provide equine crime prevention initiatives both locally and nationally. Horsewatch began in Thames Valley and it has become a leader in many aspects of equine crime prevention, including the goal of attaining a Horsewatch group in every policing area.  Many Forces follow their procedures including setting up new Horsewatch schemes and providing training to help officers handle horses.  I commend them for being so actively involved in volunteering and would encourage others to do the same.  The network created by them across England, Ireland, Scotland and Wales and their promotion of best practice is enviable.

Welcome to Thames Valley Horsewatch, a scheme set up to connect all horse owners and riders with the intention of improving our security and communication. We aim to reduce rural and equine crime and, just like Neighbourhood Watch, much can be achieved through general awareness and a little effort from each individual. The scheme is nationwide and supported by most police forces. Each area has local groups, run by a co-ordinator, who acts as your first point of contact.

You do not have to own a horse to become involved. We welcome all horsey people whether you just ride occasionally or own the local livery yard. By working together we can be far more alert to what is going on locally or nationally.

The local co-ordinators will send you information on security, tack marking, shows, events, etc. Horsewatch has no connection to any business or company and is run solely for the benefit of the members.

This site has been created to offer the best security advice, information on stolen property, to help direct you to professional bodies who can assist with your security and most importantly, direct you to your local co-ordinator so you can become a member very easily.
